Wayne and Coleen Rooney

Even in their high-pressure world, some pairs prove that true love can last!

Not every celebrity romance ends in disaster. Even with their busy schedules, photo shoots, interviews and strict diets, some celebs have proved that love really does exist and that relationships can work despite the obstacles.

These five celebrity couples are here to show why we shouldn't give up hope! Your true love is out there…honest!

Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin

Childhood sweethearts Wayne and Coleen tied the knot on the 12th June 2008 at the stunning coastal Villa Durazzao in Italy. The wedding was attended by a select group of friends and family and is reported to have cost around £3 million.

The rain may have poured as they said their nuptials, but it didn’t dampen the couple’s spirits as, according to locals at the resort, a wet wedding is a good omen: "A wet bride is a happy bride".

The pair have been dating since they were 15. Wayne proposed in the ever-so-romantic setting of a petrol station. Wayne and Coleen are the perfect example of how young love does exist.

Katie Price and Peter Andre

The couple met back in 2004 when they appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Proving their jungle romance wasn’t a publicity stunt, model Katie and singer Peter had a fairytale wedding in September 2005 at Highclere Castle.

Peter – father to the pair’s children Princess Tiaamii and Junior, and stepfather to Harvey – was recently crowned Dad of The Year in a poll voted for by UK women.

In an interview with New, he said he and Katie would like to have seven or eight children and that kids have made the couple stronger. Katie and Peter have shown that their relationship isn’t “insania”. Four years on, they still appear just as in love as ever.

Elton John and David Furnish

The pair became one of the first gay couples in England and Wales to “wed” in a civil partnership ceremony in Windsor back in 2005. Elton John met David Furnish, then a young advertising executive, in 1993.

In an interview with the Mirror's Peter Willis, he said: "Meeting David has been the greatest things to happen to me. Yes, we spend a lot of time apart and it's hard, but we make it work. We phone each other five or six times a day and we still send each other a card from wherever we are.”

It seems that the stability and trust the couple share is the key to their success. They are the perfect role models for all couples out there.

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas

Catherine met Michael Douglas in August 1998 and he proposed on New Year’s Eve the following year. He told the Sunday Telegraph: "As soon as I met Catherine, I told her I wanted to have babies with her… then, when I discovered she loved golf, I realised all my fantasies had come true."

Catherine feels just the same about her hubby, telling Harper’s Bazaar: “I fell in love with my husband at first sight, and I still feel the same way. I’ll never get divorced, never.”

The couple even share the same birthday...they were both born on the 25th September, 25 years apart, so their relationship really was written in the stars. What makes their marriage so strong is that they always try and find time for one another, “From time to time we’ll drop the kids off with my parents in Wales and go on a boat trip or play golf - just have fun. It’s important to spend some time by ourselves,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

The couple have been together for more than 26 years but have never married and are happy keeping it that way. Appearing on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, Goldie Hawn said: "I wake up every day knowing I can walk out at any moment. It’s that knowledge that keeps things fresh."

It’s clear that marriage can be the end of some couples because it is so binding. Goldie Hawn has said that the key to a successful relationship is that you both have to want it to work. “Make time for each other, play together, stay sexy".

Hawn certainly does this, as she revealed to Jonathan Ross that she makes the effort to keep her sex life with Kurt exciting by dressing up for him. Lucky man! So if their relationship is anything to go by, as long as you keep things spicy, exciting and fresh you will both be in it for the long haul.
