As the wedding season fast approaches, we look forward to the hottest wedding trends of 2008. For those lucky couples with a date in mind, here’s what you’ll need for a wedding to rival the celebs. And ladies, if you’re hoping this might be the year, we suggest you ‘accidentally’ leave this for your man to see – February is the month for proposals after all.

Invites:

Let’s take it from the beginning - the invites. What better way to show your guests the style your big day will take? Personalised wedding invites are in fashion at the moment, particularly those with an intricate design. Many companies will create beautiful letterpressed invites for you, but for an even more personalised touch, why not create your own?

Going Green:

And we don’t just mean recycling. Having an eco friendly wedding was all the rage in 2007 and is set to continue through 2008 - and with such a big event, we think eco friendly weddings are a great idea! Ways to achieve it?Use recycled paper for the invites, eat organic foods at the reception, and choose wildflowers for the bouquet and decorations.

The Dress:

Turning all attention to the dress, here are 2008’s hot fashions that will ensure you look as special as the day - Lace, beads, bows and ribbons. Simple detail from any of these will leave you looking like you’ve just stepped of the wedding catwalk.

Equally inspired this year are cocktail fountains (and extension of the chocolate version), and to be uber fashionable, swap the tiered cake for an alternative cake – Sachertorte, Amaretti Chocolate, or Tiramisu are perfect!

Finally, smaller weddings have become popular. Chose a remote location, invite only the closest friends and family, and enjoy your special day with loved ones.
